The Truth About Love

What is the truth about love? Why is it one of the most talked about topics among groups; yet, it still seems to be misunderstood and wrongfully applied?

Most of us know what the Bible says about love in 1 Corinthians 13:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud... But what does that really mean in our day-to-day lives? Well, I have learned through life and words of wisdom that there are different types of love. The problem with our culture and the English language is that we consolidate all of these meanings into one over-used and under-appreciated word...LOVE.

The one true love that stands no matter the circumstance is called agape love. This is the love that God has for all of us. It stands and withstands all things because it is based on a decision and not an emotion. All other types and definitions of love stem from an emotional encounter. But when we have made a committed decision to love without regard to the circumstance or our feelings toward another, only then do we truly experience love's depth and power!

When I think about the love Christ has toward me, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion. Because I know that if it was not for the love of God, I would not be....(feel free to complete the sentence for yourself)!
