Has God gotten your attention yet??? He sure has mine. But, let us not respond in fear.
As long as there has been life, there has been disease; humans have fought throughout humanity against it. Men and women of God should understand that the origin of such disease is rooted and grounded in sin. Sure. I understand that COVID-19 may have originated in the animal kingdom and transmitted from animals to humans - that’s what science tells us. Who knows, probably true. But at the root of all evil is sin, and we live in a sin-sick world.
The problem is: sin has become commonplace in our lives today that we don’t even recognize it when we see it. And God forbid, we actually call it “sin” when we do see it. We make accommodations for everything for the sake of our own comfort and happiness and even curiosity. But right and wrong is black and white... and crimson. It is not gray. But even with that, there is still Good News! Jesus Christ gave his life as a sacrifice for our sins so we don’t have to live with the eternal consequence of death and hell, but we can live with an assurance of salvation.. knowing that Father God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, has paid the price for our sin. He is the Great I AM - everything we need him to be! The beginning and end of all things. We can cast our cares - our fears, worries, frustrations - upon HIM. Because cares for us. We are his creation.
Somebody needs to be reminded that in the midst of this global pandemic, GOD is our source of healing. Our source of contentment. Our source of joy. And our foundation on which we build faith. Yes, this is a new thing to us, but it’s not a new thing. We tend to make sense out of the world based on our own experiences and what our own feeble minds can fathom. But take heart - God’s ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts. HE is LORD of ALL! He controls all things. Thus, this is the will of God. I rest in it.
COVID’s impact is global. But God’s impact is infinite - never ending, higher, wider, longer, deeper; and more vast than our globe. COVID’s death toll is high and increasing by the day, taking Christians and non-Christians alike. In the midst of COVID-19, there may be martyrs for God’s grace. But in God, whether we live or die is gain! COVID won’t get God’s glory. Not in my house. This is bigger than science.
Don’t you see? God is knocking down idols. And he’s knocking at your door! Will you open it?
